ABOUT US:

Laura Rose Laura is your host, and the Founder of Doubtless Bay Retreat. She is also a Naturopath, Nutritionist, Medical Herbalist and Personal Trainer. Laura founded Doubtless Bay Retreat in 2020, from her home in Coopers Beach, in the Far North of New Zealand. Fuelled by the burning desire to work with larger groups of people, so that her time could impact more lives. She feels truly inspired and honoured to assist others in achieving optimal health and full life potential. Laura designs and prepares the menu for each retreat around nutrient dense seasonal ingredients, and aims to showcase locally sourced foods wherever she can. She also forages for herbs and edible seaweeds when possible. She loves to share her passion and knowledge of all things food with the retreat participants. She believes the connections made over food, whether growing, preparing, cooking or eating, is where the foundation of optimal health begins.

𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐧 Michelle embarked on her Iyengar Yoga Journey in the late 90’s coming from a group fitness and gym background; she very quickly realised the value in practising this amazing form of yoga with the precision and intelligent use of props creating a safe platform for everyone. Iyengar Yoga creates a balance of strength, flexibility with movement and stillness. She love the scientific element mixed with the creative way poses are taught with basic, clear and precise principles aligning a balanced mind and body. She embarked on a 3 year training program in late 2002 and has never looked back, my body, mind and soul finds fulfillment, and forever on this fantastic journey learning, creating, exploring the wonders that BKS Iyengar introduced to our western world. She invites you to give it a go and see where it takes you with passion, honesty, open heart and love.

Joanne Rome Jo has over 15 years of experience in Massage Therapy. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Complementary Therapies. She has extensive experience in the natural health industry and has worked alongside many other health practitioners, including fitness instructors and physiotherapists to create personalised programs for individual clients. Since moving to New Zealand 10 years ago, she gained a Teaching Certificate in Iyengar Yoga. Iyengar Yoga is a system of yoga devised to use equipment and anatomy knowledge to apply alignment and understanding during the yoga poses for each individual, creating a more therapeutic and safe way to practice yoga.

Giulia Mattioli Giulia's spiritual journey started after moving from Italy to Scotland, where she started to get closer to yoga and its principals. After taking part in a Shamanic retreat, she decided to follow her intuition and start traveling. To develop a deeper understanding of this discipline, she gained her 200hrs YTT in the South of India. This amazing experience taught her to live in harmony with herself and her surroundings and how important it is to share this knowledge with everyone. This journey took her to discover New Zealand, where she started teaching Yoga in some retreat centres in the North and South Islands. This amazing land gave her the great opportunity to share her knowledge and wisdom in different festivals, such as Voice of Sacred Earth Festival, New Zealand’s International Yoga Festival and NZ Spirit.

“This weekend was such a journey...a journey of love, acceptance and belonging. I felt united with Pachamama, it was like I was melting into the earth, feeling its embrace, blending in and completely surrendering in the process, I wasn't me any longer as I was a part of something much bigger and beautiful. Such a powerful journey!”

As challenging as it was, the Temazcal was so amazing!!!!  Antonio's expertise, his strong energy and guidance provided a feeling of safety and reassurance. Clearly I wasn't the only one feeling supported, and comfortable stepping into this new experience outside my 'comfort zone' without knowing how uncomfortable it was going to get.
Also the support that came through from our beautiful mother earth, such a deep connection with Papatuanuku like I had never felt before.  This was extremely grounding while also providing a sense of lightness, elation, peace and contentedness.
